About our Middle School
St John’s Grammar Middle School is situated on the Secondary Campus and provides an all-encompassing 21st Century educational experience for students in Years 7 to 9. The campus is conveniently located in a peaceful bushland setting in Belair and is easily accessible by car, rail and bus.
Incorporating the Middle and Senior Schools, the extensive facilities of the Secondary Campus are dotted with trees for an environment that stimulates a feeling of peace and wellbeing. The Campus incorporates historic Retreat House, St Barnabas’ Chapel and the former Theological College building, as well as purpose built classrooms and facilities. These include a large multipurpose Sports Hall, a Design and Technology Centre, Music and Drama studios, a Food Technology Centre, our award winning Library and Resource Centre, access to 3D printing and robotics, Science laboratories, and a dedicated Language Centre complete with Asian Fusion garden.
The School is exceptionally well-equipped and enjoys a broad range of highly innovative mobile furniture options that allows for greater learning opportunities in class. A state of the art Performing Arts Centre is currently being built with completion anticipated for mid-2017 and will provide first class teaching and learning facilities for the musical and theatrical arts. An on-site café offers heathier food choices and a large FIFA accredited all weather sports field provides a useable sports surface all year round and sits alongside tennis and netball courts.
The social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each student progresses at a rapid rate in the middle years. At St John’s Grammar, strong support structures help guide and optimise each student’s individual growth in each domain. Pinera train station is conveniently located a short walk from the Secondary Campus providing safe and easy access to and from surrounding suburbs including Blackwood, Coromandel Valley, Eden Hills, Lynton, Mitcham and beyond. The School is also serviced by a School bus that runs between Aberfoyle Park and Belair and shuttles between the Junior and Secondary Campuses.
