Facilities at Junior School

St John’s Grammar School provides enriching experiences that go beyond traditional classrooms. That is why the Junior School Campus features an Enterprise Precinct, a Nature Playscape and a student-designed Scientific Garden. These immersive experiences are integrated into educational offerings, sparking curiosity, creativity and a love for learning.

Each classroom is tailored to a specific year level, ensuring a focused learning experience. The dedicated learning support and extension centre provides extra guidance and opportunities for students to excel.

The Multi-Purpose activities hall is where students come together for a range of events and activities, fostering a sense of community and teamwork. Our specialised Music and Language classes are equipped with state-of-the-art resources, enabling students to explore their artistic and linguistic talents.

The Centre for Creativity houses an award-winning library, a dedicated art room, and a media room equipped with the latest recording and media equipment. This is an outstanding space where students can immerse themselves in research, unleash their creativity and discover new passions.

The Junior Campus boasts an all-weather sporting field and courts, ensuring that students can engage in sports and play activities all year round. The outdoor spaces feature two playgrounds, vegetable gardens, sand and mud-pits and our unique ‘Play Pod’ initiative, in the Play Pod, students use a range of materials to create, learn and have fun.

Secondary Campus facilities

St John’s Grammar School Secondary Campus is located in the serene bushland setting of Belair, offering a peaceful environment for learning. It is easily accessible by car, rail, and bus, ensuring convenience for students and visitors.

At the Secondary Campus, pride is taken in the blend of historical and modern buildings. The campus incorporates significant landmarks such as Retreat House, St Barnabas’ Chapel, and the former Theological College building. Alongside these historical treasures, we have purpose-built classrooms and facilities that cater to the diverse needs of our students.

The extensive facilities include a large multipurpose Sports Hall, a state-of-the-art Enterprise and Technology workshop equipped with 3D printing, digital technology, robotics, woodworking, and metalworking resources. The Secondary Campus also features a 130-seated Performing Arts Centre with acoustic music studios, recording booths, dance and drama spaces, rehearsal and teaching areas. In addition, our campus features a Food Technology Centre, Science laboratories, and a dedicated International Living and Learning Precinct Language Centre that offers boarding accommodation.

To create an optimal learning experience, our Year 7 students have a dedicated indoor/outdoor learning space with panoramic views of the surrounding natural bushland. This space is designed to foster collaboration and active learning, equipped with flexible-use furniture and opening glass walls.

As you explore our campus, you’ll notice the presence of trees throughout the facilities. This carefully planned environment promotes a culture of learning, peace, and wellbeing, providing a tranquil and inspiring atmosphere.

The Secondary Campus has a canteen on-site café that offers a variety of healthy food choices. Furthermore, our campus boasts a large FIFA accredited all-weather sports field with lighting for night use, ensuring a functional sports surface year-round. Additionally, we have tennis and netball courts for sports enthusiasts.

Transportation is made easy with our School internal bus services, which cover the south, the coast, and the eastern suburbs. We even provide door-to-door Hills services and shuttle services between the Junior and Secondary Campuses, ensuring seamless connectivity.

In addition, the recent completion of the new Art Precinct is outstanding, featuring art studios, ceramics, print, and kiln room spaces. Moreover, an Art Gallery will be established to showcase inspiring exhibitions.

In 2024, we look forward to unveiling the New Education Centre, which will house a modern library, comprehensive learning support, student services, staff offices, and various amenities.
