Junior School Swimming Carnival

Event Nominations

The carnival is designed to allow all students to participate regardless of swimming ability. Students should carefully consider their own swimming ability and the distance of races before nominating for events. Novelty events are designed for less capable swimmers. Strong swimmers entering races won’t be granted places in novelty events over students who nominate for novelty events alone.

Medal criteria
Champion and Runner-Up medals will be awarded to the boy and girl in each year level earning the most and second-most individual House points. Year Level Champions will be decided on the results of Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle events. Students wishing to be in the running for the medals must nominate for the 50m category in ALL THREE of these events (with the exception of Year 3 students, in which all three races are only 25m).

Students may enter the Open Butterfly event in order to gain more points for their House if they are able to swim this stroke but this event will not count towards individual points for medals.

Please note, the Freestyle Relays are the final events for the day and participants will be selected based on their freestyle times from the day.

All students are encouraged to nominate for at least two events, keeping in mind that, to be in the running for Year Level Champion and Runner-Up medals, swimmers must swim in the 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle events (25m for Year 3s).

Restrictions
Students may only enter events in their year level for 2026.
