Intensive English

St John’s Grammar Intensive English Program

St John’s Grammar School is a prestigious private school, located in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. It provides a contemporary, rigorous academic program that prepares students to attend Universities around the world.

In 2018, we opened our own Intensive English Program. This unique English program prepares International students to develop the necessary skills in the English language to meet the demands of schools in Australia. It focusses in particular on developing Academic English so that students are better prepared to achieve exceptional results in the Australian curriculum.

Our Intensive English program has been specially developed to prepare International students for the different ways of learning in Australian schools. Students in the St John’s Grammar Program are paired with an Australian buddy and participate in structured activities, including Sport and classes, which enable them to quickly make Australian friends, as well as to meet other International students from around the world.

Our International students are given a personalised program, that responds to their unique interests and progression. It allows them to begin Mainstream classes as their skills develop, with most students beginning Maths classes within their first study term. This ensures that the full range of academic skills are developed.

Our Intensive English students become valued members of our community, participating in music, drama and sport, equipped to excel in their academic studies.

A safe, caring school which will help your students to develop strong English skills and to then excel academically. We have vacancies in our Intensive English program for the start of 2019 in Years 7 – 10.

Every 10 weeks, each student is assessed for progress. Successfully passing the assessment will result in early acceptance to the mainstream course. Our International Student Coordinator and each student’s Head of House will maintain contact with students during the program.  Assessments will be made regularly, and students will commence at St John’s Grammar as long as they meet the required standard.
