Steve Bousfield is recognised for a long and distinguished career in education, with leadership experience across Australia, China, and the United Kingdom. His professional expertise spans strategic leadership, international education and collaboration, curriculum design, change management, school improvement reviews, and executive coaching. In strong alignment with the St John’s Grammar motto of Learning to Soar, Steve has a focus on academic quality, global engagement, and continuous improvement.
Currently Steve is Principal of Adelaide International School and his recent roles include Principal of Trinity College Senior, South Australia, and Foundation Principal of Maple Leaf School – UniSA, a bilingual English–Chinese school established in partnership with the University of South Australia.
Steve also served as Principal of Westminster School, Adelaide, from 2008 to 2016, before taking on the role of Co-Principal of Shanghai United International School in Xiamen, a Year 1–12 school developed in collaboration with Xiehe Education and the Siming Bureau of Education. These roles reflect deep experience in leading complex school environments, building international partnerships, and delivering rigorous, future-focused curricula.
