This year, the AMC runs from Tuesday 5 of August to Thursday the 7 of August.
Students are asked to solve 30 problems in 75 minutes. The competition is easy to do as it’s now done online and students simply need to bring their laptop. The problems are designed to illicit mathematical thinking in students and are not routine questions students typically solve in maths class. They are designed to be accessible to most students but they tend to get more difficult through the competition, so that by the end they are quite challenging. Students of all standards will make progress through the problems, and also be challenged along the way.
This year, our Mathematics Department will cover the cost of entry into the competition for any students who wish to participate.
All students are encouraged to participate and simply need to register their interest before Thursday 31 July.
Please email Tim Robinson, trobinson@stjohns.sa.edu.au with your child’s name, year level and home group to enter the competition.
