It is with great pride that we share the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2025, whose Year 12 results reflect academic excellence, sustained effort, and a strong commitment to learning.
We congratulate School Dux, Sam de Sousa, who achieved an exceptional ATAR of 99.5, including two merit equivalencies through High Distinctions in university studies. We also acknowledge Proxime Accessit, Eric (Zhexun) Gu, who achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.1, likewise supported by two merit equivalencies through university studies.
We must also commend Rose McCullough, who has been selected to receive a Governor of South Australia Commendation Excellence Award – an extremely high honour, awarded to less than 0.3% of all graduating students in the State.
The median ATAR of 87.05 places the Class of 2025 among the top three cohorts in the School’s history. Notably, 42.7% of the cohort achieved an ATAR above 90, placing them in the top 10% nationally and earning membership of our High Flyers group – a distinction that recognises sustained excellence at the highest level.
Across the cohort, students achieved a total of 27 merits, comprising 11 SACE Merits and 16 university merit equivalents (High Distinctions). In total, 17 students received at least one merit, with nine students earning SACE Merits and 11 students achieving High Distinctions in university subjects. These outcomes reflect both academic depth and the successful extension of students through tertiary pathways while at school.
More broadly, the ATAR distribution highlights strong performance across the cohort, with a little over 14% ranked in the top 5% nationally, with an ATAR above 95, and impressively – over two thirds of the entire cohort placed in the top 20% nationally, demonstrating consistent academic success across a wide range of achievement levels.
Academic excellence was further evident in SACE results, with approximately two thirds of all Stage 2 grades (63.6%) awarded in the A band, compared with a state-wide average of 36.5% – representing the second-highest A-band achievement in the School’s history.
These results are a testament to the dedication of our students, the expertise and commitment of our teaching staff, and the strong partnership we share with families. We acknowledge and celebrate every student who has contributed positively to their learning and to our community – recognising that success is not defined solely by academic results, but through growth, effort and character. Together, these elements continue to ensure our graduates are well prepared for further study, work, and meaningful contribution beyond school.
We look forward to formally celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025 at our special Celebration Assembly next year with further information to follow.
We extend our warmest congratulations to every graduate on their remarkable accomplishments, well done to the Class of 2025.
