Dear Families,

The safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority. As part of our ongoing commitment to being a Child Safe Organisation, we are continuously reviewing and improving our policies, procedures, practices, and culture to ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students.

We would like to share one of the key activities currently underway as part of our continuous improvement initiatives:

Emergency Response Management

To ensure we are prepared for any emergency, we are conducting regular drills each term, including:

  • Lockdown
  • Evacuation
  • Shelter-in-place (e.g., bushfire scenarios)

These drills help to reduce stress and confusion during real emergencies and give staff and students the opportunity to evaluate and improve our response processes.

To support consistency and familiarity across all three campuses, we have implemented the following:

  • Use of consistent tones and voice recordings across Campuses
  • Adoption of the nationally recognised evacuation tone
  • Student-facing flowcharts to guide actions when tones are heard
  • A mix of scheduled and unannounced drills to build readiness

Identified Areas for Improvement

Through these drills, we have identified a few areas that we are actively working to improve:

  • Communication blackspots: We are currently exploring solutions to ensure clear communication in all areas of our Campuses.
  • Role identification: Staff involved in emergency response are now provided with clearly marked vests to ensure their roles are easily identifiable during drills and real events.

We are committed to continuous improvement and transparency in all aspects of child safety. If you have any questions or suggestions, we welcome your feedback and encourage open communication, either by email to Hannah Davis, Risk and Compliance Manager, or via our Online Feedback Form.

Yours sincerely,

Hannah Davis
