In preparation for the evening, Year 12 students have already been given a hard copy of the SATAC Guide and other relevant university brochures. If they were absent when these were given out, they should see Ms Castine to get the required booklets. Further information for students, including the opportunity to book into university one to one counselling sessions, will occur during homegroup time Friday 11 August (Week 3).
Both sessions will provide critical information about:
- Year 12 and the ATAR
- SATAC, TAFE SA selection
- Aggregate, ATAR, Adjustment Factors, Selection Rank
- Application process
- Key dates
Term 3 is an important time for our Year 12 students as they start to make decisions about what they will be doing beyond school. On the back of our successful Careers Expo in Week 8 last term, we will be running information sessions and opportunities to engage with external institutions to assist students with their choices.
The SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) Guides and other university and TAFE publications for 2024 have been distributed to students during Week 2.
We also encourage you to attend the university Open Days to assist with decision-making. Information for the Flinders University Open Days can be found here for Friday 11 and Saturday 12 August.
The University of Adelaide Open Day information for Sunday 13 August be found here.
The information for UniSA’s City East and City West Open Day on Sunday 13 August and other campus events can be found here.
Additionally, St John’s Grammar will be giving their Year 12 students and their families the opportunity to engage individually with each of these 3 major tertiary institutions through one to one university student counselling sessions run here at school. Students will be able to make 15 minute appointments with representatives from 12pm – 8pm on Wednesday 23 August (Week 5) and parents are welcome to attend. You can receive expert advice and discuss things lsuch as recommended back up pathways. The booking sheets will initially be made available to students in the information session Friday 11 August (Week 3) at 8:30 am, then displayed in the Careers Area in Retreat House.
SATAC applications are due at the end of Term 3 to avoid any late fees.
We look forward to working with Year 12 families during this hectic but exciting time.
