Further information:
Term 3 is an important time for our Year 12 students as they start to make decisions about what they will be doing beyond school. On the back of our successful Careers Expo in Week 8 last term, we will be running information sessions and opportunities to engage with external institutions to assist students with their choices.
The SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre) Guides and other university publications for 2023 will be distributed to Year 12 students on Wednesday 10 August (Week 3) and discussed during the normal assembly timeslot at 8:30am. It is important for all year 12 students to attend. Those students who don’t wish to apply for university will be given the guides to take home but will then have the opportunity to hear from Mas National about apprenticeships, traineeships and applying for jobs.
This will be followed up by a SATAC webinar on Monday 15 August at 7:30pm where parents and students can listen to information from the comfort of their home and have the SATAC guides handy to familiarise themselves with the material.

The University of Adelaide has recently announced it will be offering the Year 11 Entry Pathway again for 2023. This means that Year 12 students can enter some of their undergraduate degrees based on their Year 11 grades. Students wishing to apply for this entry pathway must submit their personal details via their online portal. The portal will open on Monday, 1 August 2022 and close at 5pm Tuesday, 23 August 2022. They will also need to lodge their SATAC application—with an eligible University of Adelaide degree in their preference list—by 5pm Tuesday, 23 August 2022. Students can view degree eligibility criteria on their website and this will be all explained in the upcoming SATAC information sessions. UniSA is offering Year 12 Grades Guaranteed Entry for some of their courses as an alternative to the ATAR, and information can be found here. Flinders University has also just announced they will be again offering their Year 11 Grades Pathway which closes on 30 September and information can be found here.
Flinders University will be presenting to Year 12 students on Friday 5 August (Week 2) during the Wings 8:30am timeslot in the last of the year 12 presentations from our South Australian universities. They will outline the degrees they offer, including new courses. They will also outline entry pathways such as the Flinders UniTest, which St John’s Grammar will be offering in early Term 4, along with key dates such as the Flinders University Open Days.
We encourage you to attend the Open Days to assist with decision-making. The Universities are offering online and on campus opportunities this year. Information and registration for the Flinders University Open Days can be found here for Friday 12 and Saturday 13 August.
The University of Adelaide Open Day information on campus Sunday 14 August and online Friday 19 August can be found here.
The information for UniSA’s Virtual Open Day Tuesday 9 August and on campus Open Days from 7 August – 28 August can be found here.
St John’s Grammar will be giving their Year 12 students and their families the opportunity to engage individually with each of these 3 major tertiary institutions through one to one university student counselling sessions run here at school. Students will be able to make 15 minute appointments with representatives from 1pm – 8pm on Wednesday 24 August (Week 5) and parents are welcome to attend. You can receive expert advice and discuss things like recommended back up pathways.
SATAC applications are due at the end of Term 3 to avoid any late fees.
We look forward to working with Year 12 families during this hectic but exciting time.
