The St John’s Grammar 2022 Formal will be held at The National Wine Centre, Hackney on a revised date of Thursday 15 September, commencing at 6.30pm with a Year 12 group photo. The event will conclude at 11pm.
As the Formal has been rescheduled to a Thursday evening, the following adjustments to our students’ school program has been made to accommodate their attendance at this event. Students are required to attend their Year 12 lessons until lunch time on Thursday and will have a study day at home on Friday 16 September. Year 12 classes will recommence on Monday 19 September.
The Formal is an important School event and the Year 12 students attending have always acted in a responsible and mature manner. The Wine Centre has constantly remarked that our students are always polite and cooperative. I would trust that all students attending will aim to be positive ambassadors of St John’s Grammar School and convey that message of pride and responsibility to all partners who do not attend our School. I will write to all partners who are not St John’s Grammar students, inviting them to our celebration and also outlining expectations.
The cost of a ticket is $135 per person and includes all food and drinks from 6.30pm to 11pm, photos, music and dancing for the evening. The National Wine Centre invoices the School ten days prior to the actual date, based on numbers at that time. We therefore require payment for both students and partners by Friday 2 September 2022. Upon receipt of the full amount, only then will students and partners be issued with their seating allocation.
Focus School Portraits will be responsible for taking individual, couple, group and other photos that will occur at specified times during the evening. The photo package is included within the costs for the formal. Students will be able to download all their photos taken on the night. We encourage the students to make the most of this excellent offer. If you have any questions in relation to the photographs, please direct your queries to Mark Duncan orders@focussp.com.au.
As each student and partner arrives, I would like them to be formally welcomed to the event by the staff that enjoy attending this special event. I ask that at the official welcome, partners from out of the School are formally introduced to the staff who will form a welcome line as they enter.
The focus for the evening should be on the Formal event itself. Pre-Formal and after-Formal events are not organised by the School. The School does not condone after-parties and is not able to facilitate in any way the preparation and running of these activities. It is vital that students and parents understand the Formal is a School event and students must not consume alcohol at pre-Formal gatherings. If a student has been drinking and we become aware of this, parents will be contacted and asked to collect their child.
We are continually monitoring and responding to the COVID-19 situation in South Australia and our school. The Formal has been planned following all guidelines provided by SA Health and AISSA, and in line with the National Wine Centre’s COVID-19 Management Plan. We will continue to adjust our plans in response to further Covid-19 updates. Please note students (and staff) should not attend the Formal if they are symptomatic or feeling mildly unwell.
To acknowledge receipt of this information, and/or to register a non St John’s Grammar School student partner, please complete the forms available here.
The St John’s Grammar School Formal is a wonderful event, and one that is enjoyed by not just the students but also the staff. We look forward to a successful event.
