Year 10 Work Experience update

Whilst Year 10 Work experience had to be postponed from Week 5 this term until later in the year given Covid-19 concerns, students have undertaken virtual work experience through The Careers Department program within their PLP subject. As we are keen to enable students to still have exposure to all of the advantages that being in a real workplace can provide, new dates have been arranged for Week 8 of Term 4 this year, Monday 30 November to Friday 4 December. This will be the week after exams for Year 10 students. Whilst not a compulsory part of the Personal Learning Plan for 2020, we encourage students to consider this opportunity.

Those students who had already organised a placement for May and completed the paperwork, may just use the Addendum Form if they wish to change the original dates and stay with the same workplace.

Those students who will be involved in the Carols Service on Wednesday 2 December, should negotiate to do a 4 day placement with the workplace, and keep the Wednesday free to attend the Carols rehearsal in St Peter’s Cathedral.

Students who had not completed their paperwork before the postponement announcement back in March, should organise for the Workplace Learning Agreement Form and Work Health Safety Checklist to be completed.

It is recommended that students organise their placements as soon as possible. The end of the school year is a popular time to do work experience and therefore it can be competitive to secure a position.
