Could you write and illustrate a book in one day and raise money for children’s cancer research while doing so?

This is exactly the challenge that 38 talented St John’s students from Years 7 to 10 have accepted. Next Tuesday, as part of our Book Week celebrations, they will work in the TLC from 8 am to 8 pm and will produce a book that will be distributed to children’s hospitals across the country.

Students will work in six teams of 5 – 10 members to plan, write, edit and illustrate their books. They will be given a set of parameters on the day, to ensure their ideas are fresh and original – and no team is able to get a head start on the clock!

All teams are also required to raise a minimum of $240 for The Kids’ Cancer Project through fundraising and sponsorship. If you wish to make a donation to support this excellent cause, you can donate at this link https://writeabookinaday.com/sponsor-a-student/ You can elect to sponsor individual students or teams.

In addition, all money raised from our Book Week dress up day on Wednesday 25 August will be divided among the teams. This year the theme is Old World, New Worlds, Other Worlds. We encourage students to let their imagination run wild as they dress up as their favourite characters. Please bring a gold coin donation to support our writers and The Kids’ Cancer Project.

Write a Book in a Day brings out the very best in our students as they collaborate and create together. We can’t wait to read their stories and marvel at the wonder of what can be produced in just one day.
