St John’s Grammar Early Learning Centre
St John’s Grammar Early Learning Centre (ELC) is an entry point to St John’s Grammar School and provides quality pre-school education for 3 and 4 year olds. Our aim is to ensure each child thrives in an enriched learning environment that inspires exploration, curiosity and enjoyment.
The ELC is located in a picturesque bushland setting with views across the city of Adelaide and coastline. Our students experience the joy of learning in a beautiful and peaceful natural environment shared by native koalas, kookaburras, parrots and geckos.

The ELC in 2017
As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, 2017 has seen some exciting developments for our youngest learners.
The St John’s Grammar Early Learning Centre has expanded its program offering to full-day sessions, from Monday – Friday, for both our 3 year-old and 4 year-old programs.
We understand that families have a range of commitments in their lives, and this allows for greater opportunities and flexibility in accessing the ELC’s offerings around these commitments. This also provides the opportunity for our students to spend additional time working within our Montessori based ELC curriculum.
From Term 1, 2017, we are offering a simplified, full-day booking option, on the days that suit you between Monday and Friday, and the number of days that suit you between two and five per week. Your booking preferences can be updated each semester if necessary, in line with any changes to your personal circumstances.
The ELC day will commence at 7.30am and conclude at 6pm, with the Montessori based curriculum being taught by fully qualified teachers between 9am and 3.15pm. As part of this simplification process, we will introduce one daily fee of $105 which will provide access to and from the ELC anytime between 7.30am and 6pm. This negates the need for your child to move to and from the existing separate Long Day Care service and physical environment.
To enhance our services to families, from 2017 we will also be offering ELC Vacation Care programs specific to our 3 and 4 year-old students, separate to our existing Junior School Vacation Care program.
We anticipate that these flexible and improved service offerings, along with planned developments to the Early Learning Centre environment and campus over the coming summer holiday period, will be of great benefit to all families.
The ELC will continue to offer an outstanding curriculum and service to your children, in an intimate group setting, taught by fully qualified teachers.
If you have any questions or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Registrar, Tim Wilson at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 8278 0210.
The ELC uniform is designed for warmth and comfort. Items of clothing include shorts, t- shirt, tracksuit and rugby top which can be continued to be worn in the Junior School. For more information about where to purchase and the uniform price list click here.
Child Care Benefit and Rebate
As an approved child care provider, St John’s ELC provides families with an opportunity to claim Child Care Benefit (CCB) and the Child Care Rebate (CCR). The Child Care Benefit is income tested and is usually paid directly to approved Child Care Services to reduce the fees that eligible families pay.
An additional payment to the Child Care Benefit is the Child Care Rebate. The Rebate helps families cover the out-of-pocket costs of child care and it is not income tested. Even if your family income is too high for you to receive the Child Care Benefit, you may be eligible for the Child Care Rebate. It covers up to 50 per cent of out-of-pocket costs, up to $7,500 per child, per year.
You can apply for the Child Care Benefit and Rebate online or in person through Centrelink. To apply online, visit the Department of Human Services website or call 136 150. It is important that all parents provide their Parent Reference Number, Birth Dates, and Child CRN to the ELC to receive the rebate on fees. ELC accounts are generated through our Finance team and billed weekly in arrears.
