Stage 2 Mid-Year Exams

Mid-year exams for students studying SACE Stage 2 subjects will be held from Tuesday 29 June to Thursday 1 July, this is the first week of the school holidays. Exams will take place at the St Barnabas Chapel on the Secondary Campus. This venue will also be used for the SACE Stage 2 end of year exams.

Students should be at the exam room at least 15 minutes before the scheduled commencement of their examination. No student will be allowed into the examination room more than half an hour after the starting time. School policy is that no students may leave the examination until the completion of the allocated time for that exam. Adhering to the rules that will be in place at the end of the year help students prepare for final examination conditions.

Students are required to wear PE or winter uniform, please do not mix and match. Bags and mobile phones are not permitted in the exam room.

In the last week of term, teachers of subjects having an exam will dedicate lesson time for revision, including a focus on exam technique. Subjects that do not have exams will continue as normal.
Students have been emailed a Revision Guide, which is organised by subject and contains a comprehensive overview of the topics/content for each subject with an examination:

Year 12 Revision Guide

Year 11 students will have their Stage 1 exams in Week 9 of this term and there will not be any Year 11 classes. Stage 2 classes will be revising for the exams and Year 11 students who are completing Stage 2 subjects, will need to negotiate with their individual Stage 2 teachers to discuss their attendance at the revision lessons. Students should also remember to sign in and out of school so that we know when they are on campus.

The exam schedule is HERE.

Many exams require students to bring a laptop as they complete an online exam.  It is the students responsibility to ensure this is fully charged.

If students are absent for an exam, they should contact Leonie Harwood on lharwood@stjohns.sa.edu.au on the day of the exam so an alternative time to sit the paper can be arranged. Students who know in advance that they will be unable to sit their exam at the scheduled time should also see Leonie to reschedule.

Year 10 & 11 Mid-Year Exams and Revision

Year 10 & 11 students will sit end of semester exams in a number of subjects in the last week of this term. (Tuesday 22 June to Friday 25 June).

The exam schedule is HERE.

In the preceding week (Week 8), students will focus on exam preparation in those subjects that stage an exam.
Students need to prepare a revision study schedule for each subject, over and above the normal homework schedule. They should also be willing to make times to seek assistance with teachers with their revision.
Students have been emailed a Revision Guide, which is organised by subject and contains a comprehensive overview of the topics/content for each subject with an examination:

Year 10 Revision Guide

Year 11 Revision Guide

The exam results will be reported through Canvas on each subject page.

Students may stay home during the exam week and only come to school to do each exam. If students wish to stay at school and study they need to comply with the sign-in requirements set out below.

All students are to wear the correct school uniform at all times when on the school property. This can be the winter uniform or PE uniform, students must not wear a combination of school uniform and casual clothes and recreational shoes. Students will be sent home if they do not meet our uniform expectations.

When there is no scheduled exam all students are to be either in private study at school in TLC or to be at home completing study. There are to be no students wandering around the school, including waiting for other students. Students who are at school for these private study periods must sign in at Student Services in Pargeter and sign out when they depart.

Students are to be at the allocated examination room at least 10-15 minutes prior to their exam.
Students are not permitted to leave the examination room until the end of the allocated time. Many exams require students to bring laptops as they complete an online exam, it is the students responsibility to ensure this is fully charged.

If a student misses their exam for reasons such as illness they must contact their subject teacher on the day to organise an alternative time to sit the exam, if appropriate. If students do not initiate this catch-up time a zero will be recorded as the exam result. In most subjects, this does not affect the student’s subject grade.

Yours sincerely
