Gooch Middle School and Senior School House Captains invite students to attend ‘A Rough Night In’ in support of Hutt Street Centre on Friday 1 June (Week 5) between 6pm and 9pm.
Each year, Hutt Street Centre serves around 50,000 meals and offers social work and support services to nearly 2,000 homeless people. Showers, laundry facilities, visiting health professionals, an aged city living program for older clients, recreation activities, training and employment programs, legal aid and assistance with finding housing are all services provided to the 200 plus homeless people who visit Hutt Street Centre each day.
For $5, students will enjoy dinner (BBQ + Salad) and watch a film of the majority’s choice in the John Bray Centre for Performing Arts (6pm-9pm). There will also be a guest speaker from Hutt Street Centre and, to help raise further funds whilst enabling students to consider the innate privilege we have in being able to comfortably grab pillows, blankets and food – luxury comforts that people who are homeless often go without – these items will be available to purchase for silver and gold coin donations. There will also be a ‘Candy Bar’ with treats available for purchase.
Students are asked to register their attendance HERE.
it is a great cause and will be a fun evening.
