Last week saw the conclusion of the 2017 Pedal Prix season, with the team competing in the 24-hour race at Murray Bridge.
Students from Years 6 – 10 participated in the event, and worked together throughout the night to get some excellent lap times, with our fastest lap time going to Mitchell Keegan in Year 9, with a record of 2 minutes 52 seconds. 697 laps were completed during the 24-hour race, bringing our season total to 1976 km.
With a slight delay to the event due to extreme winds, students bonded as a team and helped prepare a delicious shared lunch. We rode through the night and into the early hours of the day. Students got sleep where they could, as did the parents and staff! Although the 25 students were exhausted when the sun came up, morale was high and they continued to push harder to cross the finish line at 12noon on Sunday.
The bikes took a beating with a few minor collisions, so during Term 4 students will be looking for ways to raise funds to upgrade our bikes.
Well done to all students involved, and we look forward to working with you again in 2018.
Awards and certificates will be presented to the students in Term 4. Formal thanks goes to the Pedal Prix Parent Committee, who worked tirelessly for our team, be it maintenance, transportation or catering.
