In Week 4, Year 10 students are participating in work experience from Monday 20 May until Thursday 23 May. This exploration of the world of work will give students insights into the demands and expectations of the workplace and help them develop useful employability skills.

If students are ill or late on any day, they must notify the workplace providers and the school before the working day begins.

On their first day, they should give the employer the supervisor’s report, provided in the work experience envelope given out in PLP lessons, and ask for it to completed, so they can collect it before they leave on the Thursday. Students will then bring this report back to their PLP teacher in Week 5. The Supervisor’s Report can be downloaded here. During the work experience placement a teacher will visit them.

On Friday 24 May, students will come to school for a scheduled mock job interview with an experienced volunteer from our local community. Students have been preparing for these interviews in their PLP classes and will be well versed in positive body language, appropriate attire and highlighting relevant strengths. The interviews will run in the morning between 10am and 12pm. Students should bring a copy of the job ad, their cover letter and resume into the interview. They must arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled time and the interview is expected to take approximately 15 minutes.

Please note that students won’t be in school uniform for this day and will only attend school for their interview session. Information about the mock job interviews, including questions to practise is on the Future Career Pathways website here and the interview schedule is here.
