Dear Junior School Parents,
Many of our Junior School students are deeply concerned about those suffering the effects of floods in our eastern states. Some of them have even begun their own fundraising efforts.
We are currently in the season of Lent in which Christians prepare for the joy of Easter through quiet and thoughtful practices. Christians generally deprive themselves of something that helps them to sit in the discomfort of Jesus as he journeys towards Jerusalem and his impending death. Some pray more, do more for others, eat or drink less and many give more.
As an Anglican School, we naturally align ourselves with Anglican charities and so we have decided to fundraise to help those who have been affected by floods, through the Anglican Board of Mission. As such, we are sending a small money box home with our students. The idea is that they would do some chores to earn some money to donate to the appeal. They may also like to give some of their pocket money to the appeal.
If you would like to make a larger donation or to know more about ABM, please visit their website https://www.abmission.org/appeals/emergency-appeals/eastern-australia-flood-appeal/
ABM care for a wide number of countries and as such, their donation boxes do not have pictures of floods on them. Please be assured that our appeal will go towards their Eastern Australia Flood Appeal.
Would you please encourage your children to return their donation boxes to school before the end of Week 10. I will then bless the money at our whole of Junior School Palm Sunday Parade and Service in Week 11.
Together, lets make a difference to those less fortunate.
