Although the rain threatened all evening the St John’s community was well represented at the Blackwood Pageant. The Early Learning Centre teachers interpreted the theme of Aussie Christmas by utilising the heart warming Christmas story of Wombat Divine by Mem Fox. Friday afternoon the children helped to paint cardboard cut outs of the Australian animals and the teachers painted the writing. The Property Services team delivered the school ute with 3 bales of hay and built a manager for the wombat to sleep while playing Baby Jesus. The staff shared decorating the ute and all of a sudden it was transformed to match the book. The walking group consisted of children from the ELC and Reception classes accompanied by teachers and parents. Other families enjoyed the pageant from the footpaths and waved as we passed.

We had a fantastic time and made it back to the ELC with hardly a raindrop!
