Parents & Friends Association

Parents & Friends Association

Parents & Friends is a vibrant group of people who support a culture of service and engage in building a community spirit within our School. The Association encourages all parents and friends of St John’s Grammar to actively participate in the School Community and thereby help foster the healthy School spirit of which we are so proud.

It exists to organise social functions for parents, to raise funds for the School, and to aid communication between the School administration and parents. It is an incorporated body which elects a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and general committee members in the middle of each calendar year.

Parent Representatives for each Junior School class ensure that contact is made regularly with all parents so that all families feel included in activities both in and outside of School.

The Parents & Friends Association has a number of sub-committees to pursue the goals of the organisation including Junior School BBQs, Quiz Nights, Mother’s & Father’s Day stalls, Mums & Dads dinners and other events in support of the day to day life of the School.

The Parents & Friends Committee is made up of individuals from the School community. If you would like further information about joining the committee, please email us.

Current Events & Fundraisers

The Parents and Friends run many events and fundraisers throughout the year. Your purchase of tickets and other sales, through the P&F, raises money for special projects around the school for our kids. The more products we sell, the more funds we will have to spend.

Orders have now closed for Kyton’s Hot Cross Buns and Lamingtons.

Order pick up: From 3pm, Wednesday 5 April from Junior Campus Front office (2pm – 3pm) or John Bray Centre for Performing Arts (JBC) Reception at the Secondary Campus (2pm – 3pm)

Junior School Easter Raffle

The 2022 Easter Raffle was such a huge success, that we have decided to run it again in 2023. Tickets will be available to purchase in classrooms during Week 8 and 9 of Term 1. Tickets will be $2 each or 3 for $5. Limit of 6 tickets per student. 50 prizes up from grabs and will be drawn on Thursday 6 April. Prizes will be delivered to classrooms at the end of the day.

The Parents & Friends Committee is asking for donations of easter treats to be included in the gift baskets and also for any hamper/baskets that you can donate. These can be dropped off to the Junior School Reception from the start of Week 4.

P&F Initiatives

New Parent Buddy Program

The New Parent Buddy Program is a P&F initiative, aimed at supporting the parents of families new to the school, as they navigate their family’s preparation and first days and weeks at our School and within our community.

The initiative pairs a new parent with an existing parent ‘buddy’ who will be there solely for them, to answer the questions that randomly pop into their heads i.e. How do I make a lunch order online? Where’s a good place to park to drop off/pick up the children? Who do I talk to about music lessons/sports events/lunchtime clubs? The buddy will also be someone to look out for the new parent at school social events and introduce them to others.

Click here to find out more and to register your interest in the program.

Community Support Network

St John’s Grammar School has a long standing tradition of being a caring school. We have decided to find ways in which we can provide practical short term assistance to school families.
Coordinated by a parent volunteer, this is a valuable opportunity for our community to be able to be even more supportive.

Click here to find out more and to register your interest in the program.

Second Hand Uniform Shop

The Parents & Friends Committee, along with many volunteers from the school community, run the Secondhand Uniform Shop which offers parents the opportunity to sell their secondhand uniforms and purchase items at discounted prices. In order to offer your items for sale, you must download and complete the Secondhand Uniform Deposit Form and then drop your items off to the Junior School Reception, Retreat House or directly to the shop during opening times. When and if your items are sold, reimbursements are processed directly into your bank account, on a quarterly basis.

We also request that you book an appointment online to secure a time slot for your fittings. Please click here to make an appointment. Appointments are available at 10 minute intervals in order to accommodate as many people as possible. Families who require multiple items should book at least two time slots.

The current Secondhand Uniform Shop open times for 2023 are:

  • Monday 20 and 27 February 8.30am-9.30am
  • Saturday 4 March 9.30am-11.30am
  • Friday 10 March 8.30am-9.30am
  • Monday 20 and 27 March 8.30am-9.30am
  • Saturday 1 April 9.30am-11.30am
  • Monday 3 April and Friday 14 April 8.30am-9.30am

In the past we have provided an up to date stock list, however this is current unavailable and should be up and running again shortly.

If you would like to register your interest to assist as a volunteer with the shop, or if you have any questions you can email secondhanduniforms@stjohns.sa.edu.au.
