Getting Started

New Students

Here you will find all of the information relevant to new students commencing at St John’s Grammar School.

Sport Nominations

Sport and other co-curricular activities are an important part of the education offered at St John’s Grammar School.

We encourage all students to be involved.

School Uniform

The School Uniform must be worn by all students. There are summer, winter and PE uniforms, with all stock available from the School’s Uniform Shop. More information and how to schedule a uniform fitting is available on our School Uniform page.

Stationery and Resources

Stationery for Junior School students is supplied by the School. Orders for Secondary Campus students can be made online via our supplier. Alternatively, most items on each stationery list may be sourced from your choice of retailer.

School Bus

St John’s operates five separate school buses covering the Adelaide Hills, a Southern route to Flagstaff Hill and two Coastal routes. Click to view the full routes, prices and how to purchase tickets.

Calculators

All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 require the Casio FX82AUPL2ND Scientific Calculator (ref STJOH01 on the Abacus calculators website). Students in Years 10, 11 and 12 require the Casio FXCG50AU Graphic Calculator (ref STJOH02 on the Abacus calculators website).

Both can be ordered via the Abacus Calculators website or can be sourced through an alternate supplier of your choice.

Music Tuition

Individual music tuition is available for a variety of instruments, and there are many individual and ensemble opportunities available. View the range of instruments taught and apply for music tuition lessons.

BYOD Program

Students commencing in Years 8 to 12 can bring a laptop of their choice for use on the School’s network, or purchase a school-supported device through our supplier. Find out more about the minimum device specifications and how to order.

Parent Buddy Program

A new school is a big change for everyone. Our Parent Buddy Program is coordinated by our Parents & Friends Association, and aims to connect new families coming into the school with current school families.

Canteen

The canteen is based at the Secondary Campus and opens before the start of the school day, serving breakfast and coffee, and closes after lunch. Purchases can be made in cash at the canteen, and lunch orders can be placed in advance by creating a St John’s Grammar Flexischools account.

Medical and Personal Information

All student medical details are stored within the School’s Consent2Go portal. Parents will be sent an email at the beginning of the school year, directing them as to how to update these details.

Personal contact details can be updated via the parent portal.
