Chinese (Mandarin) Language Course

St John’s Grammar School, in conjunction with the South Australian School of Languages, is offering a Chinese (Mandarin) Language Course.

The classes will be held each Thursday afternoon during Term time from 3.45 – 5.15pm and the program will cost $125 per year.

We are taking expressions of interest from Junior Campus families interested in extra curricular Mandarin Chinese lessons in 2021. It is anticipated that the classes would run once per week after school, with separate classes for Reception – Year 2 and Years 3 – 7.

The Reception – Year 2 programs will be stepped, based on prior language knowledge, and are a fun-filled focus on culture and language through singing and dance, interactive and creative activities.

The Years 3 – 7 programs will be stepped, based on year level and prior language knowledge, and are language-focussed, with students progressing through levels and a broader course content that covers Chinese culture and lifestyle.

For more detailed information, please consult the following course overviews:

Each class group (Reception to Year 2 and Years 3 to 7) will require a minimum of 15 students to ensure the viability and continued sustainability of the program. St John’s Grammar students will receive priority entry, and we also welcome students from other schools to attend.
