From the P&F

It was wonderful to see so many happy faces at our Mums’ Night on Friday – what a great way to kick off the last Term of 2017!  We had 109 lovely ladies at the Stirling, all keen to get out and about, share a drink and a laugh, and generally celebrate all that we love most about our St John’s community.  Special thanks to Prohibition Gin for supporting us on the night, and especially to Lauren Carpenter who came to talk about it, and to Richard from the Stirling Hotel who educated us all about the wonders of Gin.

We also, on behalf of the parent community, showed our appreciation for the efforts of the St John’s Grammar teaching staff by providing morning tea for World Teachers Day last Wednesday.  There are around 100 teachers between the three campuses, and the P&F were happy to organise baked goodies and fruit for them all.  Full credit to Suzanne Mitchell for actually baking some gluten free items especially for the occasion!

The other session that commenced in Week 1 was the Lunchtime Stitching Group in the Junior School.  Nancy Williams had 12 eager starters, all keen to learn how to wield a needle and thread to create some beautiful Christmas items.  It is lovely to see a new skill being embraced with enthusiasm, however Nancy could do with some extra adult tutors to help – are you free on a Thursday lunchtime? Or do you know anyone who might be interested?  Would you mind coming to lend a hand?  No experience required – Nancy will be able to teach you all you need to know!   Please email her on Nancy Williams – bohemian.stitchery@gmail.com if you are interested.

Parents and Friends are beginning to make plans for next year, and there are all sorts of new ideas in the wings – watch this space.  Perhaps Latin Dance classes for parents?  Some opportunities for local businesses… and lots of Gala Ball news to be tantalisingly released – 20 October 2018 is the date, so pop it in the diary.
