Ladies, I hope you have seen the advertising material for our annual Mums’ Night, coming up at the end of Week 1 Term 4. The theme is, ‘Gin in the Spring’ and will be held upstairs at the Stirling Hotel on Friday 20 October at 7pm. The cost is $35 per ticket, and includes a gin or bubbles on arrival, canapes, and a guest speaker to talk about gin for those that are interested. Please get on board and register ASAP, because we need to confirm catering by 3 October which is in the holidays.
Thank You to all the Junior School bakers who have made cupcakes for our Cupcake Day fundraisers this year. The feedback I have had, mainly from my children and their friends, is that ‘Cupcake Day Rocks!’ and that the many amazing choices are all delicious and far better than their usual recess (sorry parents)! A big thanks to Kirsty Curnow and her team of helpers for coordinating the Cupcake Days this year – with your help, we managed to raise over $1400! We might try and make this fundraiser a bi-annual commitment, unless there is someone else who is keen to coordinate this next year? Let either Kirsty or myself know if you would like help run these again in 2018…
One of the most exciting things in my role as a coordinator of volunteers, is when a total stranger approaches me not only with a great idea, but with the enthusiasm and skills to make it happen! Nancy Williams is a parent in the Junior School, and is keen to single-handedly reinvigorate the dying art of embroidery and stitching amongst the younger generation. She has offered to start a ‘Lunchtime Stitching Group’ for Junior School children of all ages, and this is set to start on Thursdays in Term 4. At only $100 for the term, which includes all materials and expert tuition for 10 weeks, it is great value. If you have any queries, please contact Nancy directly via email, otherwise you can sign your child up by registering and paying online. She would also be happy to accept donations of stitching paraphernalia including threads, fabric (especially felt), buttons, beads, sequins etc if you have these sort of items gathering dust in the top cupboard at home.
The Secondhand Uniform shop has been working well this term, under the guidance of Anne McLinden and with the assistance of Sandie Bray and various other P&F members. Last opening for this term is Saturday 30 September, 9.30 – 11.30 am. The days and times for Term 4 will be published on the Uniform page on the website soon!
As our fundraising efforts for 2017 wind down, we will start to look forward to next year and make plans, which excitingly will include our Gala Ball in October among lots of other things. If you have any ideas, or wish to be involved in any way, please feel free to chat to us or send an email.
