Welcome back! The three week winter break is always very welcome, and not only for the ability to snuggle up and sleep in on those chilly mornings, but that extra week also allows for some lovely family holidays. We managed to do a ‘Griswalds’ driving trek over to Sydney to see the sights and visit friends, and squeezed in a few days in the snow on the way home which was lots of fun. I hope you all enjoyed the break with your family, and have come back recharged and ready for Term 3.
The P&F were happy to contribute to the grand opening of the new John Bray Centre for Performing Arts, organising the food and drinks on the night. Such a glamorous affair! We were grateful the early storms passed and we didn’t get wet, and as always it was lovely to be part of such a great community buzz. The funds for the kitchen were contributed by the P&F following fundraising efforts in 2016, and it was good to have the opportunity to ‘christen’ the fridge and the dishwasher on the night! I am sure there will be many occasions in the future where we put this wonderful facility to good use.
The next event being organised by the P&F, in conjunction with Mellissa Squire, makeup artist, is a mothers and daughters ‘look and learn’ makeup evening. This is being planned for Friday 25 August, and we will shortly be inviting you to book as places for this will be limited. The format for the evening will be demonstrating makeup application for both the young person and the older person, and will showcase a ‘daytime’ look then an ‘evening’ look. For those of us who have never had any professional training in this very useful skill, and am sure we will learn a lot! (I just need to borrow a daughter for the night!)
We have lots more plans in the wings, including Mums’ night in October themed ‘Gin in the Spring’ at the Stirling Hotel, and a venue and date for the Gala Ball 2018, but I will let you know more when these events draw a little closer.
