The inaugural School Sports Exchange between St John’s and Hume Grammar began the first weekend in June. It was an amazing opportunity for senior students to experience a sporting spectacular in the hope of further developing a sporting partnership well into the future.
Our team of 60 students took part in boys and girls basketball, volleyball, netball and boys soccer. St John’s produced fantastic results with the girls winning the netball and volleyball and the boys claiming victory in soccer, volleyball and basketball.
It was an outstanding day of competition with great camaraderie, spirit and highly skilled output from both schools. We thank Hume Grammar for their wonderful hospitality and organisation of a fantastic sporting experience for all.
To top off the sporting weekend, the students were able to go to Etihad stadium to watch an AFL game live. They then were able to immerse themselves in the history and culture of the MCG with a guided tour of the sports museum (both a first for many, including staff!).
It was a successful experience for all and is certainly the start of a wonderful relationship with Hume Grammar and an opportunity for all senior school students to experience.
