Authentic learning experiences in the Junior School

The days are just flying past! Term One is always a time full of many events and exciting opportunities for the children. We have three camps and educational tours in this term alone.

Our Year 3s just completed their educational Zoo Day and sleepover at Nunyara recently. The children were brilliantly behaved and had an educationally enriching time. Thanks to their teachers for their thorough preparation and for the wonderful support given by parents who attended during the day and/or night – a big commitment which is greatly appreciated.

Our Year 6s head off to Canberra for their Civics and Citizenship Tour, which by the way, is subsidised by the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate and appreciated by all. They will fly out early in April for four days packed with information gathering and fun. And in the last week of this term our Year 4s head down to Hindmarsh Island for a local history and farming experience. These experiences are great for teaching resilience, team work and the educational value derived from the locations chosen.

Our Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival just around the corner and our R-6 Sports Day just after. This is the first time we have included our Junior Primary children so should be a great occasion. Mr Laube has been working overtime to ensure that both events are vibrant and fun.

On the adult front the P&F Dads’ night on Friday 17 March and will be held at the Rectory from 5:30pm. If you have the chance to come you will not be disappointed. It is a perfect way to connect with other dads in a convivial atmosphere. Pirate Life beer and gourmet hot dogs should be incentive enough! Read more here on the P&F page.

Traffic around the school can be problematic so it is important to use common sense and obey the rules. Double parking and three-point turns on busy Sheoak Road can be so dangerous so please be aware and keep safe.
