Living beyond yourself, being the first to say hello, thanking others, applying best efforts and making the most of opportunities – these are values that have been reinforced and built upon in the Middle School this year. As these have been embraced, the culture has gone from strength to strength.

Inspiring minds for success through the pursuit of academic endeavour and excellence was achieved this year by a talented and committed staff. The academic program uses best middle years’ practice by promoting student self-efficacy, engagement, independent and social learning, authentic learning, reflection and the development of 21st century learning skills which promote creative thinking, problem solving and maturing entrepreneurship. Curriculum highlights across the Middle School have been many. Our NAPLAN results reflected continued growth in numeracy and literacy learning and students continued to perform at a high standard in numerous State and National academic competitions.

Shaping hearts for wisdom is a core focus through our wellbeing programs which have provided the support and nurturing of our students. They have been instrumental in developing students’ social skills, resilience and strategies to cope with the demands of adolescence.

Generating community for balance as a sub-school, campus and whole school is a hallmark of St John’s Grammar; and all Middle School students, staff and parents have contributed. In particular, the student leadership achievements have been significant. Moreover, all students understand the opportunity to ‘lead without the badge’ and initiatives such as student-led Clubs have grown. The Middle School Production ‘Return to the Wild’, was such a wonderful example of so many of our students and staff contributing to our sense of community – and so much fun to see! The audience were inspired and entertained as they laughed throughout the show. It was a joy to see our students on the stage, acting and dancing with confidence and delivering the humour so perfectly!

As the final days of the school year fast approach, it is shaping up as a wonderful finish to the year. Below is a summary and reminder of the events planned in Week 9, Term 4 (invitations and rsvp’s have taken place):
