Eating more Broccoli for Lent

Published: 20 Mar 2012

When I asked Junior School students in Chapel recently how they were going with their Lenten challenge, to give up something or to take on a challenge, a small hand went up.  At first I thought he was being mischievous in saying he’d been really successful in giving up broccoli, when the opposite was true.  He had chosen to eat broccoli for Lent!  I didn’t dare ask how many times he’d eaten the stuff.

Working in the Junior School is a wonderful privilege. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have to share something of our faith tradition; to support and inspire the spiritual journey for our young people. Yet, I am so often the one left surprised and inspired by the ways God touches me through these young people.

Long may it be so.
