Scholarship Information
St John's Grammar School is pleased to offer several Scholarships at different year levels, and for various achievements including Academic and Musical accomplishment and General Excellence. A Scholarship is also offered to a Year 7 student from St Peter's Woodlands for his or her secondary education. Scholarships are awarded following the ACER examinations, audition or interview as required, and are reviewed on an annual basis to monitor the scholar's continuing performance. The exams, auditions and interviews occur in February, and offers are made in March to commence the following year.
The value of the scholarships is up to 50% remission on tuition fees, and it is expected that recipients will complete their schooling at St John's Grammar.
Students can apply for more than one Scholarship.
Academic Scholarships - Middle and Senior School
Academic Scholarships are available for students entering Year 7, 8 or 10, and are offered following the ACER examinations in February each year.
Music Scholarships
St John's Grammar School enjoys a prestigious reputation for its music programs on both campuses and has received many awards and accolades for choral and instrumental works.
Secondary Campus
Music Scholarships for students entering Years 7, 8 or 10 will be awarded following auditions and successful candidates will be expected to be involved in the St John's music program until the end of Year 12.
As a guide, candidates should have attained a minimum standard, or equivalent, of Third Grade AMEB on their instrument for Years 7 and 8, and Fourth Grade AMEB for Year 10. Students who do not satisfy this criterion should contact the Head of Music on 8278 0234 before applying.
Junior Campus
St John's offers a small number of Instrumental Scholarships for students entering Years 3, 4 or 5 who are prepared to study a second instrument from the brass or reed families. Selection will be by audition and interview only. Fees associated with music tuition and instrument hire will be paid by the school for the second instrument. Students will be required to audition again in Year 6 to apply for a Music Scholarship for his or her secondary education.
As a guide, candidates should have attained a minimum standard of First Grade AMEB on their instrument, or an equivalent, for Years 3 and 4, and Second Grade AMEB for Year 5. Students who do not satisfy this criterion should contact the Head of Music on 8278 0234 before applying.
General Excellence and SPW Scholarship
St John's also welcomes applications, from students not currently attending the school, for General Excellence Scholarships, to enter Years 7 - 12.
