Gifted and Talented Program

At St John’s Grammar School we believe that the optimal learning environment offers an inclusive program for all students.  Students are encouraged to be independent and lateral thinkers, accepting of one another, flexible and aware of the vast world around us.

We recognise that gifted students are not a homogeneous group, and that giftedness may manifest itself across a range of endeavours or within a single area – creative and expressive arts, academic subjects, interpersonal relationships or sporting ability.  St John’s Grammar provides gifted individuals a range of opportunities to realise their potential.

We provide an appropriate curriculum and learning  with opportunities to develop:

• Creativity
• Critical thinking
• Creative thinking
• Caring thinking
• Philosophy
• High order thinking
• Autonomy and independence
• Acceptance of others
• Task commitment
• Motivation
• Group skills
• Awareness of the world around them

We also offer a differentiated educational program (as necessary) that offers enrichment and extension as well as small group acceleration in key thinking skills.
